In one of the more interesting reactions to the news that Opera is switcing browser engine development to WebKit, John Resig explains why this development is similar to the industry-wide embrace the jQuery JavaScript framework. Far from leading to stagnation, jQuery led to second-tier frameworks such as: Bootstrap, Boilerplate, and Backbone. Likewise, cutting-edge WebKit development is likely to continue with added contributions from the Opera team.
