SSIS - What Is The Difference Between Control Flow and Data Flow In SSIS ?

Control Flow is part of SQL Server Integration Services Package where you handle the flow of operations or Tasks. Let's say you are reading a text file by using Data Flow task from a folder. If Data Flow Task completes successfully then you want to Run File System Task to move the file from Source Folder to Archive Folder. If Data Flow Task failed then you want to send email to your users by using Send Mail Task. The Precedence Constraints are used to control the execution flow.

SSIS - Create Excel File Dynamically In SSIS

We want to create a SSIS Package to load data from Database but the number of columns can change any time. We do not want to open our SSIS Package and do remapping for our Excel destination. This type of situation can happen when we have Dynamic Pivot query results those needs to export to Excel and we are not sure about the number of columns.

SSIS - How to Get Error Column Name In SSIS

We are loading data from source table to destination table. The data has to be converted to destination data types before we insert the data into Destination table. We are using Data Conversion to convert the data types of input columns. If data is not able to convert to data type we have specified in Data Conversion Transformation we want to redirect those records. After redirecting those records, we want to log the information with Column Name which became the reason for redirection.

SSIS - Validate File Header against Definition saved in Table

Create a SSIS package that will load cvs files to different tables but before loading we want to validate the Header and read the Footer information. If Header does not match with our header definition that we have saved in table then we need to send an email and also update the wrong header value in our table for further investigation. If Header matches with our definition then we want to read the Footer row that has number of records. We need to compare this with actual number or rows in the file.

Difference between And clause along with on and Where clause when used with left join in SQL Server

I have been working on SQL Server databases for more than 5 years and I was not aware of the difference between the On clause and Where clause when used with left join. Once I asked this question to our DBA (who has 10+ years of experience) and he said that there is some difference but he was not be able to explain the difference. Then I started exploring this topic myself and got some interesting observations of these two clauses when used with left join. So today I decided to share my knowledge so that everyone could benefit from my work.
