Pizza is a dish consisting of a round, flat bread with a filler gratin. The dough can be made on flour, water, yeast, cooking oil and salt and covered with tomato sauce, cheese and any other ingredients before it is baked for a short while on high heat. In addition to sauce and cheese, pizzas often contain herbs like basil or oregano and different combinations of meat, fish, bird, seafood, vegetables and mushrooms.

It is contested where the pizza really comes, but a popular opinion is that it is part of Italian cuisine and originated in Naples (Naples). The right has become very popular in many parts of the world. A restaurant that mainly serves pizzas is usually called pizzeria (from Italian). The American internationally spread chain Domino's Pizza and Pizza Hut also serves an American pizza variant, called pan pizza, with a thick bottom. This is inspired by Italian immigrants' recipes and traditions.
