If you develop apps for iPhone, someday you will be needing to build an alarm based application.There does not exist an absolutely reliable way to have a long term NSTimer fire(or in the background) which obviously makes it (NSTimer) unsuitable for background alarm application. However Apple, in iOS 4 in introduced a magical feature which will help you achieve this, and it is called UILocalNotification – A feature which can be used to schedule and trigger notifications from the iOS app, even when the app is not running.
