After months of development, while trying to submit our iOS application to the App Store I felt like the last 20% of the known 80/20 rule from the pareto principle took (as usual) much more longer than anticipated. Your job isn't done after you finish development, there is still a lot to do after you think you are done. Right after implementing the planed functionalities, testing the application, filling out the metadata in iTunesConnect, including descriptions, keywords, screenshots in English and German I had no more patience to think about what was left and shipped the app without worrying about any implications. I wondered why Vista Point didn't get the hoped downloads after being accepted by Apple and I didn't know where to start looking for answers. In fact, there is a entire process behind app marketing and it's even tougher if you are an indie developer like us. It's not enough to build a good product, not even a single user will find you if you don't do the right moves. Just to be on the same page: Apple doesn't help you a tiny bit here, so you are on your own to market your product. Following our advice and use and apply some of the tools, frameworks, websites and facts will help you get new happy users and grow your downloads organically.
