With this article I am starting out a series focused on finding the best way to have these two technologies (Sharepoint and Silverlight) working together. In this series we will explore some possible ways to make Silverlight work with some of the features of Sharepoint including the less known ones.

What are we going to see in this article?

We are going to see how to embed a Silverlight application in a site page of Sharepoint in a rapid and efficient manner. In this article I already faced this topic and I described three different ways to accomplish this and in another article I presented an additional method. But now there is a recent Visual Studio extension called "Silverlight Sharepoint Web Parts" which has simplified the work of the "Sharelight" or "Silverpoint" developers. In this first part we will analyze in depth the first of the two new item templates which this extension adds to Visual Studio, and namely the "Silverlight web Part"; in the second part we will see the other one, i.e. the "Silverlight Custom Web Part".
